With numb brain and dim sight
I strive to see beyond thy curtain
And want to know beyond the night
I doubt whether the morn is certain
O for the forbearance beyond limit!
So I may too wait till exulting dawn
While this brutal night trying to hit
My faith and patience, with its frown
Ah! Lest they should call me a coward
Nay, my momentary ideas can't prove it
With broken feet I can but march onward
Through red red cinders' scorching heat
O Unknown Future! Give one hopeful ray
To live and light like a flame till the day
