Oath Poem by William Kofoed

Oath

Down hallways dark

Of echoing stone

Pasting unseen doors

All closed on this night

Eyes are covered

Unneeded now

Trusting those

Who lead the way

Echoes felt

Tell of the path

Where we are

And where we're bound

Long hours worked for now

Weeks of studies now done

Tested on this night

To prove our worth

Or to fail on this day

Now enter in a great hall

Now see by candlelight

Sword now offered

We must draw

An oath we must swear
