Obdurate Poem by Richard Dates

Obdurate

I tried to write a poem
Filled with deep and meaningful adjectives.
When I opened my dictionary,
To wake the sleeping words,
Only obdurate,
Its meaning mocking me,
Could be pried
From the pages of the book.
The rest clung inside,
Laughing and sniggering
At my foolishness.

I like this one a lot. It happens to writers all the time. In the mood for something deep and passionate, full of intense vocabulary and inhansed imagry, then you come out with a dinky little poem. Sometimes they're the best though. I really appreciate this one.
