Obstacle Poem by VIRGINIA GELY

Obstacle

Softly and silently waves cover the signs of time…
I linger again and again, from moment to moment;
I remember our first sight…

An ordinary encounter…
Early souvenirs come and go…

Now…they are far away, just a part of the past, a part of my life.

You have given me a lot more, you cannot compare.

You are still present, but I will try to forget you among those yesterdays.

Undenyingly unreachable, I content myself
To imagine you close to me.

The waves cool this heart warm by my desire to be near you.
I know you need my presence and my hearing comprehension…
You have no choice, even no voice to ask.

Me, too, I am unreachable.

Call me with whatever name you want…
I am not far from you.
Perhaps in the dark agony of solitude
My fervent prayer can reach you whenever you are.

You are never alone; you are in my thoughts,
If you have enough strength…
Just tell me…
I will always be on the other side of the wall.

As long as the ocean never runs dry
I will be there on this shore each summer…
Not anymore waiting…
Nevertheless aspiring and hoping that these mighty
strong waves break the silence between us…

And why not?
Break too, this wall that divides us in two?

Reason for treason
I started to hate this miserable existence.
Roaming and searching, I couldn’t find the exit,
Heading to the vast ocean leads me nowhere…I AM LOST.

Today, looking over this sunset
I realize that this masquerade has to end.
Each of us is our own wall.

THIS IS A REALITY.

In life jokers are around.
They make us sometimes laugh or cry.
They must take part in the masquerade of life.

This again is a reality…

OUR REALITY.
