Occupancy Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Occupancy

Discussing
About
The occupancy
Tenants’ rights
Of temporary
Abode or halt
Over this earth
Paying thereof
In excess
Of the cost
Though
Appears to be
A nominal rent
Tendering
Yet, the whole
Savings
Of the lifelong
Earnings
One leaves
Behind
In the Bank
Or otherwise
As the balance
Being there
No justification
Of assessment
Of the rent.

A clear clutter
Organization
Reclaiming
Civil rights thereof
Or a life as smooth
Akin to living a life
Of a turtle at home
As smiles on face
Doesn’t mean
The life to be
Perfect.
Articulating
A blemish end
The destination
Wholly flawed
As preordained.

However
Stimulating
A style
Style comfortably
Relaxed
In an ideal world
May exhibit
An extension of
One’s personality
Likes and dislikes
Of the life
Bearing signatures
And an aesthetic
Sense
Restricting
A value added
Forewarning
For the coming
Generation
With an option
Open to them
Mix and match
Making-
That a nightmare
The dreamland
Or a comfort zone
Contemporary
Or classic
With time and age
As the preferences
Ever change.

Thus-
Lending a thought
Discarding the stuff
From the past
Retaining
Still some of that
As memorabilia
Everyone is telling
A story of its own
Getting on passed
Becoming the past.
