Ode To A Step Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Ode To A Step

You count at night
Sole
Alone
The
Centuries
That
Flew
But
You
Recall
What
You
Want
From
Them
Too!

The night of the steps!
No
Hard
And
Heavy
Feet
No
Paces
Of
Steel
You
Be
Quiet
At
Last
In
The
Last!

But ah! Step by step
At night two or three
Figures
Descend
Ascend
In
The
Steps
And
Disturb
The
Dreaming
Step
By
Step
For
A
While
For
A
While!
For you count
For
You
Count
In
The
Night!
And
Recall!
Recall too!
A Figure of Night
Out
Of the shadows
Dark shadows
It glides
