Ode To All Of Us Poem by Adenekan Samson Kehinde

Ode To All Of Us

You can judi-share,
You can execu-thief,
legit-sly-thieves you can be,
But mortgage not the hive for honey.

Listen, oh you psychopaths!
Your 'Bata' (traditional drum)echoes doom
At the doors of our common room
We may sigh in distress
To embrace your foggy lies,
But in silence,
we will sigh at your demise.

Holla! our parsimonious preachers,
You spare the truth
Only to spoil these brutes.
You tint your words
Only to swell your worth?
You stock these worms
Just to feed our thriving norms?
Huh... forget not, Karma is a generous soulmate.

A qui bon dire,
If you wrestle reality in pessimism?
And endure fatalism in faithful lies?

To all our weaknesses for lies
And endurance for hypocrites,
Ode to all of us I say,
For the dawn will soon be 'dawn',
And the 'day' will be here to stay.

Note:
(a)Judi-share (judiciary arm of Nigerian government and its corrupt money sharing)

(b)Execu-thief (executive arm of Nigerian government and its penchant for stealing national wealth)

(c)Legit-sly-thieves (legislative arm of Nigerian government and their legit policies which encourage stealing while betraying common men dreams and aspirations)

(d)A qui bon dire (to what use or essence?)
