Ode To John Mclaughlin - Poem by Jeffrey Philip Clegg

Miles beyond,
On a
Cool train to
Eternity -

You know there is a
Meeting of the spirits
In the noonward race
Toward dawn.

The awakening of a
Lotus on Irish streams,
Carrying a
Vital transformation
To the dance of Maya.

The devotion and surrender of
A love supreme.
A meditation of
The life divine.

You know it is the
Master of
Orchestration,
The inner mounting flame of
The Mahavishnu's
Soaring
Guitar.

This is an articulate statemtent, Jeffrey. 'awakening of a lotus on Irish streams', I really like that. You have references to Coltrane, it seems. Miles Davis too, or did I read that one in? I don't get 'the noonward race toward dawn'. (Report) Reply
