Ode To Silence Poem by Ella Veyes

Ode To Silence

Could you step outside of heaven.
Shield your eyes and look at me.
I wouldn’t paint you any sorrow.
I never dream of destiny.

Did you fly too close to the sun?
Or did the sky refuse your gain?
No, you wouldn’t bear the sunstroke.
You know nothing of pain.

Could you show me an illusion?
I’ve no light for you to douse.
I thought bliss was within you.
You won't let me find out.

Did you ever know of this?
Love unrequited, only despair.
Can you even hear my ache?
Because I hear you holding her.

You’re more beautiful than music.
Eternity just fades away.
I would rather touch you once.
Than unfeel another day.
