Ofbirds Poem by Francis Duggan

Ofbirds

We get to know birds by their appearance or song
And some of them once seen and once heard we never again do get wrong
Yet the more we learn about birds the more we come to realize
That of them we know little this not a surprise
It is true about birds they have ways of their own
And some things about them remain as unknown
Even birds we do hear and see every day
We do not know everything of only true for to say
A sad enough thing for to be of aware
That many species of birds are becoming rare
Without birds there would not be a voice of the Spring
And this even to contemplate is not a good thing
Of birds we have so much to learn of and know
And our wonderment of them it only does grow.
