Of Colours, Yes, But Flowers Boast Poem by james watkin

Of Colours, Yes, But Flowers Boast

Of colours, yes, but flowers boast
A spectrum of uses.
Each an emblem. Plight's rose, my prime
Season-change effuses!

All in loving gifted. Tied round
Of joy or consoling.
Sprays, babes' sprouting aside, sun-burst.
Sprays, by wills drooped, dewing.

More effective communicating
Pale lily, Death's face
Death's sanctity, than bystanders.
Singly stemmed; in one place.
