Of Pockets And Rockets Bereft Of Cash Poem by John Sensele

Of Pockets And Rockets Bereft Of Cash

Holes in my impecunious pocket
Leak the countable cash
I rescued from the ribald rocket
Where dear dreams I stash

To leak the countable cash
That clings to the sentiment socket
Where dear dreams I stash
After I rescue cash from the rocket

That clings to the sentiment socket
I fixed beneath the sodden sash
I rescued from the ribald rocket
When elders urged bucks to hush

Having fixed blues beneath the sodden sash
Shivering and shivering in the ice of Winter
When elders urged bucks to hush
In case my eyes caught the squinter

Shivering in the ice of Winter
I blurt words of diffidence
In case my eyes caught the squinter
Who lost pounds of confidence

I blurt words of diffidence
Holes in my impecunious pocket
Which lost pounds of confidence
I rescued from the ribald rocket.
