Of The Sea Poem by Elna Nel

Of The Sea

silence is a pebble along the shore
where music is paddling a soft encore
see the foaming puddle in footprints
one step two beneath the mew's high soar

sow me silence in mews' pattering walk
throw me a pebble in the water's salt stalk
where the breeze drapes over my shoulders
like dancing music step two's and pour

the jumping foam over my toes and talk
in parables of fishes and mews and men
in boats in the presence of waves' roar
and the soft speech of the sea pebble's core

then let me know if I am alone
in the harbor of this shore after all
bouncing within a shorn silver ball
my heart in two step one treaty port

for serenity is a pebble
in waters of a great lullaby
so let my heart grow a new shell
in safe crevices of sea's deep well

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
