Of Your Hometown Far Away Poem by Francis Duggan

Of Your Hometown Far Away

Have you ever thought of your hometown far away
And the friends and relations you have not seen for many a day
Though happy in your adopted hometown do you ever think of what used to be
Or is the past a fading ember in your memory
For the friends of your past have you shed your last tears
Since them you have not seen for decades of years
Your life's journey took you far from your first homeplace
Where to many today yours would be a stranger's face
You last see the old hometown many decades ago
In your first home today you many may not recognize
Time leaves most looking older as most realize
Though to many there you may be a stranger today
Do you ever think of your hometown far away?
