You sent me a telegram from heaven:
'I will wait - if you here wait for me,
try to do your work - and I will save you,
and we'll meet after this life, off-screen'.
Even Pushkin was not so cruel!
'Wait a year' - he said to Natalia.
But a quitrent for the pure -
is perpetual balneum.

The first stanza is remarkable. If I'm reading it correctly: a soul in heaven [promises to help a friend still on earth to reach so that they can be reunited. But the second stanza eludes me. Does the the reference to Pushkin meanhe postponed his marriagwe to the Moscow beauty? But the last two lines have two words I don't know: balenum & quitrent?
