Oh candle, brave, that in the darkness glows,
Your light that has so permeated my soul
It made days of my nights, as your flame grows
That wheresoever I may go to stroll
A guiding beacon shines on path I tread
And none of wayward thrills my fancy stole
For how so much in being lost I dread
To never ever wander without sense
And that, to One above I always pled
For should at my whole lifetime's full expense
As candle my endeavour be professed
I'll glow in true light, and not in pretense
To guide all wanderers to paths so blessed
And pray the Lord above to do the rest.
