Oh how
The obvious
Brevity of life
Has been
Impressed upon me
Of late
So much so that
I seize
Every morsel
Of life
I can find
Even the crumbs
That have dropped
Onto the floor
I bend over
And pick them up
Then I get down
On my knees
And busy myself
Looking for more
Under the chair
The desk, the bed
When I find them
I put them in my mouth
And savor them
They may be
A bit dirty
But they are
Still life
And precious.
