"Oh Lord Lets Come On Down To The River And Pray." Poem by Roxanne Dubarry

"Oh Lord Lets Come On Down To The River And Pray."

Rating: 3.5

"Oh Lord let's go down, ain't no love that can be found.
Oh Lord let's go down to the river and pray."***

Oh! dear Lord please hear me as I pray.
Let's go down to the Snohomish River today.
Oh Lord I don't need any further delay.
Because today is the day, I want all
my sins washed far far away!

Oh dear Lord I am sick and tired of
carrying all the burdens of my sins.
I want you to enter into my heart.
Because my life needs a brand new start.
And Lord today is a brand new day.

Oh Lord why should we tarry? Why should
we delay? Because today is my appointed
day for you to wash all of my sins far
far far away. Dear Lord, I freely confess
my sins, please set me free forever from them!

Oh Lord for you so loved the world, and
Lord can't you see? That the whole wide
world includes even me! Dear Lord I've
tried before, please open wide my heart's
door! What wondrous blessings are in store
for me.

Oh dear Lord I freely give unto you
the golden keys unlocking my heart's
door. I would like to invite you
to live within my very own heart
today without any further delay
on my very own part.

Love in Christ Jesus!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I added the Snohomish River because it is the one belonging to my Snohomish County. I took an old spiritual lyric and adapted it. This song has been circling inside my head for several days now!

A nice poem expressing feelings of expiation and confession.
