Oh Valerie, You Keep Me Waiting Poem by David McLansky

Oh Valerie, You Keep Me Waiting

Rating: 4.5

Oh Valerie,
You keep me waiting
Is there reluctance
In your hesitating?
Have you succumbed
To social fears?
Has my approach
Been unclear?
I tip-toe close on
Moccasins,
That you may know
I am a friend,
Soft are my words
My passion restrained,
Though my soul careens off
My heated brain

Sorry, I have been remiss Wrapped up in 'domestic bliss' Chores are knocking at my door Wash the pots, clean the floor A woman's work is never done Can't lie idle 'neath the sun No time for wordy love affairs Nor passion calling up the stairs I am tired and need to sleep But in my heart your words I'll keep
