Old Friend - Poem by Shelbie Hale

You, oh, how I long to see
I haven't forgotten you and me

I know you can't have forgotten, too
No bond is stronger than the one between me and you

I wish I could go back
To when your presence I hardly lacked

But those days are over now
And I'm trying to find a way how

I can see your smiling face again
That day will come I don't know when

But I swear I'll find a way
To get back to you someday

As sure as the promises we keep
Our friendship does go very deep

Remember all the mountains we climbed?
Our bond is surely strong enough to stand the test of time

And when we finally meet again, we'll have no need to be coy
For the world will begin to loudly sing a song of joy
