Older Poem by Bei an Wang

Older

You're like a disease.
A disease that I've tried so hard to forget about
Yet the scars and weight loss are constant reminders of you.
I was a soldier drafted into a war I was not ready to fight
A girl this young shouldn't fear for her life.
But then I realized
I was fighting a war against myself
Afraid to stand up to someone who I used to call my brother
