On A Day Like This Poem by Andrew Close

On a day like this,
All I can ever do,
Is sit and think about you.
The clouds may be grey,
But you brighten up my day,
And make the sky glow a more beautiful blue.

I sit and dream,
About where we could go,
If we just ran away today.
We could lie on a beach,
With the water by our feet,
Or catch a plane to an island far away.

And the sun would shine,
And the birds would sing,
And wed be happy together alone.
Practising your French,
On a Parisian park bench,
Would we ever want to go home?

But then I wake up,
Or I remember where we are,
And somehow, I feel ok.
Because the clouds may be grey,
But you brighten up my day,
With every little thing you say.
