On A Little Girl Missing Her Mother Poem by Chandrani Dutta Das

On A Little Girl Missing Her Mother

With the rising sun when the day is born,
And the flowers smile to shed off their slumber,
The birds fly to some new places unknown,
And a little girl looks out of her window in wonder.

And the humming bees play with the blooming flowers,
The bunch of which hides the bird's nest from view,
As the day is born, to the little girl it appears,
The whole world, the what she sees, as if, is born anew.

And amazed she whispers, ' mother, come here and see '...
But no known sound of her mother reaches her ears,
It's only the bird's chirp and humming of bees
The sound of which her little mortal ears did bear.

And suddenly she remembers and closes her eyes,
A drop is born and suddenly rolls down her cheeks.
' Where are you? Where have you gone, mother? '
As she whispers, she begins to weep.
