When We Cease To Dream Poem by Chandrani Dutta Das

When We Cease To Dream

Is this a dream the where we are?
Eyes open wide yet unaware
Of what it would be like when we cease.

People we meet, come and go,
When awake do we know
Or remember we did ever meet?

The flowers, their fragrance and hue
Or the leaves bathed in dew
Do they still remain when our dreams don't?

All the colours that adorn the rainbow
Or the hues of earth that we see, that we know
Can we still see them when we don't dream around?

All the music that creates magic in our dreams
The tweet of birds, the blow of breeze or moving stream
Will they still create the rhythm of our heartbeat?

All the sound, all the silence that we hear
Or all the words that we speak or reach our ears
Will they be when our dreams break?

Will we still be the what we are?
Will we speak, see, move or hear?
When we are aware and cease to dream.
