On And Off The Hook Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

On And Off The Hook

On and off the hook

I hear birds and the beasts
And the ones in the seas!

I heard fish when talking:
"Better be on the hook than off it! "

Saw my eyes rolling sharp so went on:
"Both of them thanks to man…"

Eyebrows must have asked:
"What you mean? "

"Off the hook if I am
Meaning in hand of man
Peels, skins, dead-alive
In the pan and fries…"

Said the fish and cried
No, did not see tears
Saw it all with wisdom.

"But on hook there is hope
To escape with trick or efforts."

Nodded head and agreed
I am man and have seen
We are mean, we are mean
And again: "Mean are we! ! ! "
