On Brexit Day 31st January,2020 Poem by Alan Sandham

On Brexit Day 31st January,2020

Here's the time for us to sever,
May be for now, may be forever,
Maybe a sad, slow, parting kiss,
Maybe a sibilant serpent hiss;

Maybe a step into a future
Gold, or grime, or bleeding suture,
Maybe Brexit is another end,
Once from empire, now from partner, next from friend?

Best to all on Brexit, Alan. Change takes adjustments. This is well written, my friend! 10+

This draws on both Robert Burns and Michael Drayton, but Michael Drayton's sonnet may appeal more to the pro-brexiter.
