On Life's Struggle Poem by Marian Evans

On Life's Struggle

Why can't I have
A knowledge of something more,
A friend without a catch,
A slate of settled score,
A body without its scab,
Possessions with no true match.

Why can't I be
Someone with things as such,
Someone who has no need,
Someone of so much,
Someone who can see,
Solidarity without greed.
