On Reading Of The Death Of Fintan Kiely

On the internet in the Irish Examiner death notices on this the twelfth of May
I read of how Fintan Kiely one I knew had passed away
Into the great hereafter his fate our fate one day
And the years go by so quickly we soon grow old and gray.

Pre-deceased by a few years by Mary his good wife
a crippling accident that rendered him a semi invalid was his tragedy in life
But Fintan he hung in there right till the very end
And he was such a brave man and to many a good friend.

He will be mourned by all who knew him in the Parish of Millstreet
For he was as nice a person as one could wish to meet
Always the perfect gentleman if even slightly shy
And it truly can be said of Fintan that he would not harm a fly.

He used to love the card games and his a familiar face
In Millstreet Town or Ballydaly where a card drive did take place
To dropp a few quid to him did not matter he'd say 'tis part of the game
And he always appeared calm and happy win or lose he seemed the same.

He will be sadly missed from Liscahane and by his son and daughter Agnes and Tim
for they had such a good father and a great role model in him
In the cemetery by Cashman's hill with Mary he will lay
And the fate of Fintan Kiely will be our fate too one day.
