On The Coldest Day Poem by Marilyn Jean

On The Coldest Day

The night before today
She thought she would fall asleep
Fast and deep and be ready
But this was not to be
More arguing and more quarrels
Visited them into their bed
Yes, stupid, because she moved
Then he erupted in bad words
Stealing her rest killing her night
Destroying almost all of next day
As she felt badly smashed in pieces
Inside her heart and her feelings
Ignoring it, was an option as often
Yet she decided to put it square
In the morning and called this cat
By its name emotional violence
Said she was chocked by it all
Had had more than enough
Would not have any of it
But nothing does here
Everything goes it a spiral
She cannotcomplain
Silence and more loneliness
Was all she could ask for
And she did but it felt bad
On the coldest day
Later there was some sunshine
And now the night is back
She knows she cannot win
He would not change at all
He was like 2 seasons
So a cold day would return
To make her shiver, wait a bit
In between he would be sunny
Only she could not predict
Just be ready for volatility
Now, she was truly exhausted
