On The Death Of A Great Comedian Poem by David McLansky

On The Death Of A Great Comedian

Rating: 5.0

Those who give the gift of hope
To those who feel that they can't cope
Should never resort to the rope
When they despair like some old Pope;

Would he negate all of his wisdom
Having preached bravery to those in prison
Turning laughter into derision
Death the bleakest dark decision

Suicide is so depressing
A riff that leaves the living guessing
Was his humor mere obsessing,
What did he mean by his final lesson?

Oh David, sigh... your poem speaks volumes! *I miss your words* I loved Robin Williams so! His humour and energy would lift my soul and brighten my day. How terribly sad to give up that gift, that was so very valuable to all he spent his life entertaining. Who can know his suffering? I wish I could have had a moment to tell him just how much he has meant to me. I do believe that celebrities in particular, become isolated and lack that one on one communication on a reality level, so they have no outlet to share their heart(that won't be leaked to the tabloids) . What a loss of sunshine in the world. Elaine
