On The Way Down Poem by Jennifer Peckins

On The Way Down

Extreme curiosity
Were you here all along
I just noticed your eyes
And your arms, where I belong

Hold me close
I’ll never leave
My lips belong to you
Remember every kiss you receive

But the warmth grew distant
It was far, never near
So blind, I didn’t see it before
Why do I believe every word I hear

Now so broken inside
Crumbling not cracked
I can’t pick myself up
It’s self-control I lack
