Once I Wore Rhinestones On New Years Eve Sonnet #46 Poem by Stephanie Eve Kane Arado

Once I Wore Rhinestones On New Years Eve Sonnet #46

Years of velvet and rhinestones remembered
Bejeweled, hairsprayed and sozzlled by morning
Red wine soaked memories, some still treasured
Late wakeup still in makeup while ears ring
Decked out at party, concert or dive bar
Wearing silver paper crown, feathers pink
A wink, smile, high heels and fishnet stockings
Create celebration, a flirtatious mixed drink
Strong, sweet mixture flows till the New Year rings
Once or twice there have been more quiet years
Time for prayer, reflection about mankind
Smiling through the last year’s triumphs and tears
Watching late movies to relax unwind
Kissing my child as she sleeps at midnight
Seems like the best way to start the year right!
