One Chance Tonight Poem by Jayson Howard

One Chance Tonight

Walking on glass, a wasted mass.
Step through time, don’t get stuck, entwined.
Throw thoughts farther than stones, stop pondering alone.
While feeling through braille, looking so pale,
when light’s darker than the dark veins in your heart.
The blood rush is ripping insides apart.

With no one, journey through flower beds, fall on stems.
Don’t recognize friends, when you couldn’t make it without them.

Eat my words, fly like birds.
Let go of time, become timeless.
A fool in love with time, is only distressed.
Just a shameless dove, gliding high above.
Then a stone cast ages ago, comes back around,
a shame the shameless dove is going down.

With no one, journey through the sea, waves crash violently,
and storms strike relentlessly. This is normality,
But no one goes on a journey alone forever,
doves come in a pair of two.
Expect me to lift you up,
and walk on the glass for you.
