One Day Once Again Poem by Cassandra Hooper

One Day Once Again

Rating: 3.5

Darling my eyes have yet to see you again
And I'm not sure how to take it
But my smiles come easier now
You just have to learn to really fake it
And I've watched many moons pass
I've watched the grains fall through the hourglass
But I've yet to see you come this way
And I've borrowed all the spare time Earth has
Tell me when did the diamonds leave your eyes
And how long have hornets replaced these butterflies
And tell me what happens when the last hope dies
I've never felt so hollow where my heart lies
This emptiness is all consuming
It takes away my breath
Serenity is punishable by sorrow
But how I'd much prefer death
And your voice whispers in the back of my mind
But the words are never quite clear
And I urge you to return to me
But reality is accompanied by fear
You will never walk this Earth again
You will never hold my hand
You will never return to me in this life
And I have yet to understand
But when I finally see you again
Darling I know all will be well
We'll have all the time in the world
And there's so much I have to tell
