One Side (Rev.) Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

One Side (Rev.)

Rating: 5.0

Modern mother
For her frailty
Gives birth
To kids only
One or two
Getting soon
Tired of
Unlike -
Ancient mother
Preferring
A good number
Of offspring
Thereafter
Looking
Even more
Full of life
And fresh.

Perhaps
Out of frustration
Or her own choice
She might be
Contemplating
To look nice
Evergreen
Till the last
Of her breath
Musing -
It to be a trend
And economic
Need of the hour
Maintaining
Up to date
Phony herself
A symbol status
Simply to please
Her social circles
At the cost
Of her duty
Supreme.

Over-looking
Her little-ones
Forgetting
Instinctive
Relationship
By self-created
Communication
Gap
Can’t be justified
With-
Lack of resources
Or paucity of time.

Deliberately
Since
She has been
Reserving
Every part of it
For her own
Entertainment.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The trends of Double Income No Kid and Double Income Single Kid (DINK and DISK) is being quite popular particularly among well educated urban couples now a days. Reasons may be (a) glam of materialistic consumerism and (b) every growing cost of living n education and bringing-up of children. The struggle for quality existence may also be a cause. Thought provoking poem. Thanks for sharing.10+
