One Thing Poem by maria gomez

One Thing

She stood there looking in the bathroom mirror looking at what used to be whole. What use to be so strong. What use to be everything a girl could be but then he broke her heart and her world began to fall apart, she used to have everything, she used to be Somebody but now she’s nothing, she’s broken, she can’t seem to pick up the peaces they’ve fallen everywhere. He never loved her from the very beginning but yet she won’t comprehend that he only wanted her for one thing. She was walking down the street she turned the corner and there he was with another girl at first she didn’t know what to think he passed her by with a smile all she could do was just walk by. But then she realized that he had moved on with out saying any thing to her. She goes home sits in the corner of her room and starts to cry. She thought they were to be together forever. But in this case forever was only two weeks. She decides to go and talk to her friends, which they tell her to get over him that he was not the one for her so she does. Every day she sees him with that girl from before and he walks on. She promises herself that the next time that she sees him she will be walking with a guy for herself. A guy that she knows that will treat her the way she deservers to be treated. He knows that, that was the one thing he never did. One thing that this new guy will give her. That one thing was love…. Love he never gave her.
