Last Days Poem by maria gomez

Last Days

Pain and tragedy linger in the air. Although you're here, you're really not there. Hope and tears are all we can hold, Time is running short, as we've been told. Seeing your face, distant and troubled, it seems everyday our despair is doubled. Remember the things that were from a better time. I know it's hard to believe, but this won't be fine. Your tears fall as if an ocean's been drained. But you must believe, no one's to blame. Take my hand I won’t pull away. Savor these moments, day after day. I'll try to control my pain and not break down, but I feel as if this is too much and I'm watching you drown. It's happening to fast to accept the fact. I die a little each time I think about how you won't be back. Pacing all alone, no shelter to run to, another day down' I think as I realize I'm losing you. I just want to leave and get away from here. So give me one last smile and I'll give you one back. It makes up for all the energy that you now lack. I don't know if you're sure that it's near, but when it happens, rest assured, I will be there.
