One True Friend Poem by maria anaya

One True Friend

I knew I did wrong.
I knew that what I did would break my moms heart. Either way I had to tell her because this
“secret” was driving me crazy.
I was ashamed of myself, but I couldn’t face the truth by myself.
I always knew I had her by my side and no matter what she wouldn’t judge me..
She’s known me too long and can read me better than anyone else.
She is someone who listens at any time of day.
Someone who will brighten any sky that’s gray.
She is someone who will cry with me whenever I am sad.
I called her one night with a worried voice and immediately she came over.
Without speaking she knew something was not right.
I just let my tears speak for themselves.
She gave me the strength, and courage I needed to face my mistakes.
Without having to judge.
Although it is hard to explain, I really wish she could see that when I had not a reason to go on
She picked me up and made me strong
It was time for me to face my mistakes.
Me and my mom had a long talk and yes she was heartbroken but in the end she understood my
My situation and helped me out.
I couldn’t been able to speak without her because she gave me the strength I needed.
No matter what went down or what went wrong she would always be there with an ear to listen
To my song a song about life, a song about love
My only one true friend was there til the end.
