One Ugandan Girl Poem by Fadhy Mtanga

One Ugandan Girl

The way you look,
Never stops to amaze me,
Okuva olunaku olwasooka;
When I met you,
I surely knew,
That would just be the beginning,
Of a very wonderful journey;
Wakati waffe.

As I walk with you,
Down the streets of Owino,
Omutima gwange is filled with love,
And excitement.
And the feelings of belongingness,
And the senses of completeness;
Of the two of us.

As I wake up,
Every morning at Bweyogerere,
And watch the musana from Mukono,
I love looking at you,
Lying so dearly like omwana omuto
And tell you the words that I love,
"Nkwagala nyo"
And that will remain,
My feelings olubelela.

And, it's not only about,
The beauty ofomubili gwo,
It is also about,
The beauty of omwoyo gwo n'amagezi go;
And, that of the two of us.
That will remain olubela,
The best thing in us.
