One Year On Poem by Kim Hoolihan

One Year On

Rating: 5.0

Looking through my cupboard of memories, I find you once again.
I hear your laughter, share stories, I'm with you once again.
Surrounded by your love and warmth, so safe when you are near.
Just to hold you close again, to fade away my fears.
I've got so much to tell you, I know you'd be so proud.
I would give the world, just to hear you laugh out loud.
You're in my dreams, and in my thoughts, of every passing day.
It's been so hard to battle on, yet in a way.
I feel you close to me at times, when I need a guiding hand.
When I feel sad and weak, and ready to give up, you help me take a stand.
I will never forget you, I miss you more and more each day.
Your courage and your strength will always guide me on my way.
You know my heart's still broken, and time will never heal.
So many words unspoken, of the way I really feel.
I love you both so very much, you made me who I am.
Until we see each other again,
Your love will carry me on.

Km, this is a sad piece but with courage. There is always an emptiness when we lose someone we love. Top marks and thanks for sharing this emotional piece. Hugs David
