Only In America 2008 Poem by Kathryn Marie Thurman

Only In America 2008

Rating: 5.0

The day finally came,
where our hope was untorn.
Shouting out Obamas famous name,
so we don't have to cope anymore.

'Yes we can' became the nations cry,
for a better economy nation wide.
Growing from the bottom up, is what he's gunna try,
so help can reach people from tide to tide.

even in great distress,
we put our differences to rest.
Leaving our mark on history with no contest,
our first black president won from east to west.

Tears ran down faces,
because the nation is now whole.
The American people has united the races,
and put strength back into our soul.

This new Era,
of young thinking and pose.
Is setting a new criteria,
for a better future for their girls and boys.

Growing upon a regretful past,
the world thought it could never happen.
But even with our races in contrast,
we have shocked everyone, a United, States at last!
