as seen in Anchor Books.
I saw you in dreams, we were seventeen
your blue eyes sparkled beguiling my heart.
From that second on, it all seemed so right
and in 'slumberland' we never will part.
I know little of you, realistically,
but the merest thought of you seems real
and although no moon is shining tonight
heavenly angels know the rapture I feel.
You smile...on wings I fly to the sky,
up through the stratosphere and beyond.
This is only a dream within a dream
it's only a dream...how can I respond?
One day we may meet in reality
but for the moment, let dreaming be all.
Stay as we are - you and I - from afar,
and we'll pray there is virtue to extol.
To follow our hearts maybe right or wrong
the world becoming a stage for a while,
treasures to enfold as we both grow old.
Heads still rule down Happiness Mile.
