Only Love Will Stay Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Only Love Will Stay

An innocent boy dies
his death is untimely
and difficult to understand
Seems to be a life too short
a life taken out of hand
It's difficult to reconcile
Hard to believe it was what God planned
Sorrow grows throughout the land
to see a life sift through the world
like the hourglass, now half-full of sand
But many people pay their last respects
And some shed a tear
to realize the finality; he's no longer here!
All he was guilty of was driving too fast,
trusting that more life was ahead
and that eveything would last
That's a sucker's bet, I know
and maybe that's why I'm feeling low
Time is running quickly out
And I pray love will soon show
Because I have a heart inside to share with someone
To matter in some small way
and to feel that when I die
my heart was at least loved, by and by,
and found somewhere to go where love was real and not a lie
What matters most in life is perhaps not what we take away
but what we leave the people we love, how we touch them in some way
Because sooner or later...life itself will fade away
and only love will stay
so love someone: Beliieve.. find a way
Or love your friends who need your care
Because life can end this very day!
