Only You Poem by BARBARA GREGORY

Only You

HERE RIGHT?

House all quiet, its the middle of the night,
Erupting thoughts plague my mind,
Replaying again and again
Evolving into the nightly game of what I did wrong?

Reaching into your very core for the last bit of strength
Imaginings are your enemy
Grief thought dead and buried
Here and alive in full 3D
Taunting your dreams!

Hopes of peace, gone with the stars
Empathy cuts deep and bleeds you of all that once shone
Replaying it all in your waking moments
Empty are your reserves, you've used them all

Reeling, finally knowing there is only you
In the end to hold you up, to hold you tight
Giving in to the darkness
Held tight to your chest
Trying to put it into words but there is only

A silent scream.
