Open Door Dream Poem by Edward Veilleux

Open Door Dream

I dream of an open door, where it leads I know not where.
I travel inside swiftly, to find that I have once been there.
I find a bed occupied, with what I am not sure.
I realize the girl, sleeping and dreaming so pure.
Perhaps she is dreaming of me, and watching me sleep,
Perhaps we are kindred spirits dreaming both so deep.
As I motion towards the covers, heart pounding by then.
I rip off the covers in expectation, and wake up to emptiness again...
