Orange Juice And Toothpaste Poem by Bryan Corbett

Orange Juice And Toothpaste

a love like ours
simply was not
meant to be
like jamming
a square peg into
a round hole

she liked football
me? baseball
she liked SUVs
me? motorcycles
she liked dining out
me? ordering in
she liked cats
me? dogs

of course,
we could have tried
a little harder
to make it work,
but, the taste of it,
was just slightly off-putting
like drinking orange juice
after brushing your teeth
