Our Children And Us Poem by Artan Gjyzel Hasani

Our Children And Us

our children are sleeping tight
sweet-dreaming on their beds
and they don't know that we also
are kids like themselves

they don't know that we also
are afraid to sleep apart
they don't know that we also
love our toys too much

they don't know that we also
like the petting and warm voice
they don't know that we also
like playing with the other people toys

they don't know that we also
wait for the tale every night
they don't know that we also
believe that a barking dog doesn't bite

they don't know that we also
are scared to be left alone
they don't know that we also
forget the path to our home

they don't know that we also
burst into tears and cries
they don't know that we also
sometimes believe in lies

they don't know that we also
make mistake and say 'sorry' often than them
they don't know that we also
believe that behind the horizon there is nothing else

they don't know that we also
still draw the homes with locked doors
they don't know that we also
still wait the presents from Santa Clause…

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
………………………………………………………………………………….

oh, so many things they don't know about us…
as we feel younger than our children, my love.
