The hand that rests against your cheek-
That's the hand I want to hold
As the world falls into entropy,
As we live while it grows cold.
Let the walls cave in,
Let the bits be blown apart,
As we watch without a care-
Hand in hand, heart to heart.
Let the sun fade into darkness,
Let loose the demons of disarray.
We will turn our back to trouble.
We will make each day our day.
Let the infrastructure crash and burn.
Let ceilings land atop our heads.
We look at each other and smile.
We tear our fears to shreds.
We can't care anymore.
For too long we've been too tough.
Even though we have forever,
That is not time enough.
That hand that rests against your cheek-
That's the hand I want to hold.
I can see us hanging on
As we live, as we grow old.
And I can see us pay no mind
To the world that is apathetic.
We distance ourselves from it
While our hands are magnetic.
We wouldn't have to worry
When our fingers would intertwine.
Even with chaos all around us
I'd still be yours, you'd still be mine.
