Our Last Meeting. Poem by Mishack Mchunu

Our Last Meeting.

I saw her somewhere in the dark
And she smiled at me but I couldn’t see vividly,
While the wind was blowing dogs did not cease to bark,
I drew her near to me and held her proudly!

I wish I could touch her heart and mend it
Though it felt so far away where no hand can reach,
But I realized if I could try her blood would split
I have caused her too much pain I had nothing to preach!

Even though women rose from men,
Right now it fills I owe every bit of my life to her.
It was never by hate that I did what I did but by anger I was driven,
And it is not by lust that I want to correct my wrongs but to love I adherer.

After all she did to me also…this would sound lame,
For I still find a way deep in my soul to let go and take the blame.
