Our Mentor Poem by Patrick Akhudu

Our Mentor

On the slopes of Mt. Kenya
Was born of a blessed mother
A bright star, a trail-blazer
Our very own Esther Mureke

You are a wonder flower
That bloomed into a character
Like your daddy, discerning
Like your mummy
Potent with self-sacrifice
You are god-send, Esther Mureke

You offered yourself
To serve humanity
Giving hope, showing love
To poor pupils, patients, prisoners…..
Planting trees for posterity
Your bosom can hold the whole world
Your heart is golden, Esther Mureke

The world celebrates you with prestige
A letter of commendation
From HRH Prince Edward
A commemorative coin
Of the Duke of Edinbourgh
And now you are Esther Mureke-OGW
For making extra-ordinary choices for others

Your heart beats for others
Turning the tide of the world,
We trust the power of a woman
Who believes she is because we are
Your dream blooms in the heart of nations,
Esther Mureke
